Love in the City

I had the honor of meeting Brianna and Evan in Brooklyn for their engagement session this past summer! We had such a fun time walking around together and getting to know each other. I love a change of scenery every now and then for portraits and am more than willing to travel. I am so excited for Bri and Evan's wedding in February with Red Letter Events.

King Street Engagement: Heather and Ken

This sweet couple came to me by way of Katherine Miller Events and I was thrilled to have the chance to get to know them from their engagement session to their wedding day 2 weeks ago. Here are a few images from their portrait session last year. The idea for the session was to enjoy some of Ken and Heather's favorite spots around town. We started at Rue de Jean, headed over to Kudu Coffee on Vanderhorst and then wrapped up the downtown part of the session at Husk Restaurant. We went out to Sunrise Park on James Island for a few sunset shots! Can't wait to show you a few of their wedding photos in a few weeks!
I love this image and show it in my portfolio when I meet with couples.
I shot this image on my Instax Mini. I love it.
Congratulations, lovebyrds!!! Hope you had a wonderful honeymoon!

Morris Island Engagement: Leigh, Randy and Barley

I absolutely LOVE this engagement session of Leigh, Randy and their sweet pup Barley! To say that Leigh and Randy enjoy life would be a major understatement. Let's just say that if you had to choose 1 couple to sail around the Virgin Islands with, you'd pick them. I've known Leigh for years and I've never not seen here smiling and in the best of spirits. Leigh and Randy, thanks for welcoming me aboard your boat with a hug and a cold beer and reminding me that I shouldn't take life so seriously! Y'all are a beautiful couple and I predict many more sunset cruises in your future together. Congratulations!!! XO, Char
When we were trying to determine the location for the shoot, I asked Leigh what she and Randy do on the weekends. She told me that they love to go out on their boat together. I suggested we do just that. I was so touched after the session when Leigh called to tell me that they felt I captured them naturally, just as they are, and helped them preserve one of their favorite memories.
Leigh, are gorgeous!

The Battery Engagement: Amanda & Jason

I'm delighted to feature this beautiful couple on my blog today! I met Amanda and Jason by way of their uber fabulous Wedding Planner, Luke Wilson. For their engagement session, we met at White Point Gardens, one of my favorite spots downtown. After wandering around South of Broad, we headed over to Middleton Place. I loved hearing about their story and their excitement for their wedding day. Amanda and Jason are as sweet as can be and I can't wait for their January wedding. Happy Monday and enjoy!
What a sweet couple...they were naturals in front of my camera.
Amanda, you are stunning! :-)
We took a few pictures here at the Edmondston-Alston House, where Jason proposed.
This is my favorite image from the session...well, I have lots and lots of favorites.
I love it when my clients choose two locations for their session. I think it's nice to get two different looks and you can achieve this by changing locations and outfits. I don't put a time frame on my sessions for this reason. I feel that it allows for my clients to more freely express themselves.

Shem Creek Engagement: Cameron and Chan

I shot this session earlier this year for this beautiful couple. We started with some champagne at the Wreck of Richard and Charlene, mosied our way over to the shrimp boats on Shem Creek and then headed over to the Pitt Street Brige to take advantage of the sunset.
I love it when my clients feel comfortable enough with me to break out dancing! How cute are they?
I am in love with this image of Cameron and Chan at the Old Village Pitt Street Bridge, they way her head is buried in his chest and her hair is blowing in the wind.
And here's one Holga image for good measure.
